Requirements:
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
- Applicants must possess a high school education or its equivalent.
- Applicants must be licensed and certified as a paramedic by the Illinois Department of Public Health upon hire.
- Applicants must submit a copy of their CPAT + (Ladder Climb Exercise) Certification from a licensed administrator in Illinois within one year of the testing date.
To Apply:
STEP 1:
Submit your online application. Please upload the following required documentation:
- A copy of your Driver’s License
- Birth Certificate
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Copy of current Paramedic License or documentation showing you are in the process of obtaining a License
- CPAT + (Ladder Climb Exercise) Certificate issued within one year of the testing date.
If you are unable to obtain a copy of the above documentation at the time of submitting your application, you will be required to bring the documentation with you on the day of testing.

Mandatory Orientation for All Applicants

Written Examination: The minimum passing grade is 70%.
STEP 4:
Oral Interview:
Applicants who successfully pass the written test will be notified of the exact time and location for their oral interview.
CPAT & LADDER CLIMB CERTIFICATES
If you need to obtain these certificates, we accept certifications from any vendor as long as they are certified to administer the test. The vendor below administers classes for these certificates. Please contact them directly for more information:
