Board of Fire and Police Commissioners

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are appointed by the Village President with consent from the Board of Trustees. The Board has the responsibility to test, screen and appoint new members to the fire and police departments of the Village, excluding command staff. Additionally, the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners conduct competitive testing for promotional positions with the two departments, such as fire lieutenant and the police sergeant. The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners functions, and conducts entrance and promotional exams, in conformity with the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
