The River Forest Comprehensive Plan sets forth long-range recommendations for the maintenance and enhancement of the community and for desirable improvements, developments, and redevelopment in selected locations.
The Plan is River Forest's official policy guide for land use and development. It considers not only the immediate needs and concerns of the community but also projects improvement and development 15 to 20 years in the future.
The Comprehensive Plan establishes the "ground rules" for private improvement and development. It provides guidelines by which the Plan Commission, Development Review Board, and Village Board can review and evaluate private development proposals.
In 2017, the Village began the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan. The Village's previous plan was adopted in 2003. Click here to learn more about this process.
