Crain's Chicago Business recognizes resident Eric Simon, Chair of the Sustainability Commission, as a Notable Leader in Sustainability.
In the June 27, 2022 issue of Crain's Chicago Business, a select group of individuals in the private, public and non-profit sectors were featured as Notable Leaders in Sustainability. Crain's writes "These executives across the Chicago area lead their organizations' efforts to keep climate change in check, including planning and implementing actions as well as recording and reporting data to stakeholders of all kinds...Their work- fingers crossed- will help make Earth a livable place for generations to come."
Eric Simon was one of the few individuals selected that represent a municipality. Eric has served on the Sustainability Commission since its inception in 2017, and has served as Chair since last year. Crain's lists several accomplishments as reasons for Eric's designation, including implementation of the community solar program, exploration of a single-use foodware ordinance and the changes to the VIllage's waste hauling contract. Other achievements include the installation of the Villag'es first electic vehicle charging station and the implementation of the Bicycle Task Force recommendations.
Congratulations Eric, members of the Sustainability Commission and Trustee Lisa Gillis for their hard work on these initiatives!
