River Forest Police responded to an alarm call at a home in the 1500 block of Lathrop Avenue at 4:23 PM on February 23, 2022. Responding officers observed pry marks to the front door. The interior of the residence was undisturbed and it appears the offender was unsuccessful at gaining entry to the residence. The incident occurred between 9:30 AM and 4:10 PM. The River Forest Police Department is conducting further investigation.

- Lock your doors and windows. Ensure locks are sturdy, doors are strong, and door frames are reinforced.
- Keep property well lit with ample interior/exterior lighting. Note: there are plenty of proximity sensor options.
- Keep valuable items out of plain view, particularly if left inside vehicles.
- Invest in security measures such as sensors, alarms, cameras, doorbell cameras, and more.
- Inventory your valuable items and keep track of your property. Take photographs of jewelry, record serial numbers, etc.
- Be a good neighbor: look out for each other and be a second set of eyes for your neighbors' property.
- Remain observant and don't hesitate to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious behavior or incidents
