On December 6, 2021, Brian Murphy was appointed to the position of Village Administrator for the Village of River Forest. His start date will be December 13, 2021. Mr. Murphy comes to River Forest with 28 years of local government experience. He started his career in Michigan before his most recent 12 year tenure as the Village Administrator of Plainfield, IL. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan.
“The Village Administrator is a vital position in the community. That person leads the Village’s professional staff, and implements the vision and direction of the Village Board of Trustees,” said President Catherine Adduci. “I am pleased to name Brian as my appointee and look forward to working with him. I am confident he will serve our community well.”
Mr. Murphy’s appointment comes as the result of a nation-wide search conducted by GovHR, a recruitment agency that specializes in local government. The Village Board of Trustees reviewed and interviewed several finalists from a pool of qualified applicants with a goal of finding a collaborative, transparent and highly-regarded professional with strong communication skills.
“The Village of River Forest has a fantastic reputation as an organization that is committed to the quality of life of its residents and the business community. Through the interview process, I became more impressed with the Village’s commitment to, and engagement with, its residents,” said Murphy. “I am humbled and honored to join the Village and look forward to working closely with President Adduci, the Board of Trustees and Village Staff to serve the community.”
Adduci continued, “I want to thank Lisa Scheiner for taking the helm as the Board completed this search process. Her institutional knowledge and experience in River Forest have played an important role during this time of transition in River Forest.”
