VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR ERIC PALM TO BE APPOINTED VILLAGE OF HOFFMAN ESTATES VILLAGE MANAGER

RIVER FOREST, IL –The Village of River Forest has announced that Eric Palm will be named the next Village Manager for the Village of Hoffman Estates.  The Hoffman Estates Village Board will make his appointment official at its December 7 meeting. His last day with River Forest will be Friday, February 5, 2021.

“Times are such that people might not want change, but the Village will face this head on,” Village President Catherine Adduci said. “These are challenging times, but with consistency and focus, we will be fine. Eric has been an exceptional leader and we are grateful for his leadership and commitment to River Forest.”

Assistant Village Administrator Lisa Scheiner will serve as acting village administrator upon Palm’s departure. She has been the Assistant Village Administrator since 2013.

“Eric has helped oversee a great staff, including Lisa.  We’ll be in good hands,” Adduci said.

The Village will recruit a new Village Administrator in 2021.

Palm was hired by River Forest in 2010 at a time when the Great Recession left the village’s finances in question. From the start, he was a steadying influence on the administration. The financial picture began to change. Under his leadership, the Village adopted balanced budgets each year and created capital equipment and project funds. The Village earned budget awards and a coveted AAA bond rating from Standard and Poor’s (S&P) This year, because of its strong financial position, the village will adopt a flat tax levy.

Palm also guided River Forest through its largest capital project in its history with the construction of the $16,000,000 Northside Stormwater Management Project. Two tax increment financing (TIF) districts and two business districts were established in Mr. Palm’s tenure.

“I am thankful to all of the elected officials, residents and business owners that I have established relationships with during my time in River Forest.  Most importantly, I want to thank the professional Village Staff who deserve the credit for our success.  It is their hard work each day that allows us to achieve all of the Village Board’s goals” Palm said.
