River Forest Police Department Conduct
“Click It or Ticket”
Child Safety Seat and Occupant Protection Mission
River Forest, IL—As summer comes to an end, the River Forest Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation to remind motorists to Click It or Ticket. The Occupant Protection Enforcement Mission took place on September 28, 2020 and focused on promoting the proper use of seatbelts and car seats to keep all motorists safe.
“Our officers see firsthand the tragedy when people do not buckle up. Just like a face mask, a seat belt only works if you wear it!” said River Forest Police Chief James O’Shea.
During the mission, officers issued (16) seat belt tickets and made (1) traffic arrest for No Valid Driver’s License.
The officers conducting the mission also stopped a motorist who was transporting a 4-year old child without a car seat. Officers gave the motorist a brand new car seat, at no charge, and arranged for a certified River Forest Police Department Child Safety Seat Technician to install it on-site.
“Please help us spread this life-saving message before one more friend or family member is killed simply because they failed to buckle up,” said Chief O’Shea. “Seat belts save lives, and every vehicle occupant—front seat and back, child and adult—needs to remember to buckle up, every trip, every time.”
