A Special E-News Message from the Village President, Catherine Adduci
Curfew Lifted
Dear River Forest Residents,
Tonight, June 1, 2020, the curfew will be lifted. No curfew will be in effect for River Forest this evening.
Last night due to the civil unrest in the Chicago metropolitan area, the Village of River Forest implemented a curfew from 9 PM to 6 AM. The Village installed barriers at various entrances to the community to deter traffic from commercial areas, and police were stationed throughout the entire community as a precautionary measure. Several businesses closed early yesterday and installed temporary and preemptive board up materials to deter vandalism and looting. Some community businesses have chosen to leave the boards up as a precaution.
Thank you to our public safety employees for doing an excellent job maintaining the safety of our residents and businesses. There was one incident of a break in at CVS, in which the glass front door was broken and bottles of liquor were stolen.
We want to assure the community that maintaining order and safety is our utmost priority, and we thank the residents for their cooperation and understanding during these uncertain times. The Village will continue to communicate any additional precautionary measures taken that are necessary for your safety.
Cathy Adduci
Village President
