The Village is aware of a lawsuit filed by Beverly Bank & Trust against Sedgwick Properties (Sedgwick), relating to the Lake Street and Lathrop Avenue development (Lake & Lathrop), and will be working with both parties to reach a resolution that is in the best interests of River Forest and its residents.
As a general rule for all development projects, the Village’s priorities are to monitor proper maintenance of worksites, in addition to the quality of construction, and timely completion of said projects. Sedgwick has been found liable by the Village for more than $36,000 in code violations over the duration of the project.
At this time, Sedgwick has an active construction permit granted by the Village on February 2, 2022 that expires on August 2, 2023. Based on the construction progress at this time, it is not anticipated that the developer can complete the project by August 2. Permit extensions can only be granted by a vote of the Village Board after receiving a written request from the applicant. The Village has not received a formal extension request from Sedgwick.
Village officials will continue to seek updates and information from the developer on the project’s progress, and will continue to share this information with the public on the Lake & Lathrop Mixed Use Project Update Page.
