Federal Funding Available for Eligible Flood Related Damages

The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that as a result of the April 18th storm, President Obama has declared all of Cook County (and other Illinois counties) a federal disaster area. Aid has been made available to the State of Illinois and its residents and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts.

Individuals and business owners in River Forest are eligible to apply for grants for temporary housing and home repairs, and low-interest loans for uninsured property losses. To apply, you must register at http://www.disasterassistance.gov/or by calling 1-800-621-3362. The number for the hearing and speech impaired is 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.
